Power Core Series 2: Stuck
After finding the location of the Cydonian command
ship the team got ready to leave the base with explosives set in the command
area of the base in order to render the base completely inoperable. They were
nearly to the sinkhole they had created when they realised that the Cydonians
were closer than they thought. “Do they know what we found?” Naomi asked Darren
as they dove around the corner in an attempt to avoid the incoming plasma fire.
“They
know we took something, but as far as they are concerned it was basically just
their general ship layouts for their smaller, attack UFOs, not their big troop
carriers; and they defiantly don’t know that we know the location of the command
ship,” Darren explained as he cancelled the gravity underneath the alien
forces.
Meanwhile Jack jumped into the middle of the crossroads
and began to blast light out of his hands and straight into the Cydonians’
eyes, blinding them; but only just for the right amount of time for Emma to
rush down and cut down ten or so of the little grey things before rushing back
to the others.
“There
are at least another hundred or so out there!” Emma called across the corridor.
“How do
we stop them then?” Naomi asked Darren as gravity changed on a grenade which
soon when flying back towards its throwers.
“We
either stand and fight here…” he started.
“Or?”
Naomi pushed.
“Or we detonate and
hope the explosion doesn’t like going around corners,” Darren shrugged
sheepishly. “Either way, we are not likely to make it out of here alive.”
“Then
lets take the bastards out with us then?” Naomi smiled before picking up a pile
of stones with her telekinesis and sending them at high speeds down the
corridor. “We’re designed to do this, lets use that.”
Naomi then ran out into the open and began to
manipulate the air around her so that any plasma bullets were diffracted
downwards and into the walls. As she approached the enemy forces she began to
realise that maybe the force was too powerful to be dealt with in the normal
way. “Darren! Detonate!”
Darren looked around the corner at Naomi, his mind
racing trying to figure out what the best case scenario was. “Darren! Do. It.
Now!” she called again. Suddenly Darren realised what she meant. Seven orange
coated aliens were floating down through the hole in the street.
“Dammit,”
he moaned and ran over to Emma. “Do what you mum is doing,” Darren instructed.
“Is it
just me or is it getting hot?” Jack asked as Emma formed the air barrier around
them.
“Everso
slightly…” Emma agreed. “Darren, hold off on that a minute.”
“But –”
“No “But”,”
Emma warned. “Don’t press the button unless we tell you to do so.”
“Wait,” Darren
stated. “Now I can feel it…”
Meanwhile Naomi was watching a mash-up of molten
rock, fire and flesh as dirt and aliens were pulled up into the tornado of
fire. But who? she thought to
herself. Who has that type of power.
The first aliens to be dragged into the fiery form
of death were the tiny little Sectiods who quickly peeled and melted away. Soon
afterwards however the much larger, pink floaters and green-armoured,
purple-faced Mutons were sucked in. And then finally the cloaked figures who’s
cloaks matched that of the fire were dragged in.
After which there was nothing left stopping Naomi
from marching forwards and finishing off the last couple of aliens who were not
dragged up into the fire tornado.
As the tornado dispersed the alien flesh, blood
and charred bones began falling back to the ground. And where the tornado had touched
down was a small red-haired girl; who’s nose and ears were bleeding heavily.
“Stupid girl,”
Naomi moaned and ran up to her daughter’s side before sweeping her off her feet.
“Come on Connie, don’t do this. Don’t comatose. Please…”
