Four and Counting: Adoption

After Angee lost consciousness, Tom was temporarily return to his own life and memories as he sat at his desk at NCIS. While he was sat there, he looked around and caught sight of the woman whose desk was opposite his. However he was soon thrown back into Angee’s memories, this time she was in a car with Shannon and Kelly, feeling somewhat happier than when she first came back. In the front of a car was a man in a black suit who was mostly concentrating on driving while Shannon, Kelly and Angee were all chatting away in the back.

What’s so special about this? The other showed a Protector that I didn’t know about coming back in time, but what makes this so special? Tom questioned as Angee’s gaze suddenly turned away from her new sister and mother and to a nearby rooftop which housed a brilliant line of sight towards the driver. No way…

Without warning, a sniper fired his rifle and struck the driver in the head, which caused him to suddenly accelerate forwards and turn the steering wheel to the left, causing the car to swerve, strike the car and flip multiple times in the air before finally colliding with the front of a convenience store.

As they spun, time slowed and Angee compiled a small ball of temporal energy that she released shortly before the car landed, knocking her forwards a few seconds and seemingly vaporising Kelly and Shannon, along with the driver’s corpse.

The short journey into the future caused her to re-materialise in the same place she had been before, except the car was no longer there, causing her to suddenly go into free fall and slam down painfully onto the pavement.

The scene blurred away as the NIS squads arrived, before refocusing as Angee and Leroy spoke with the NIS agent in charge of finding the killer.
‘Any luck?’ Leroy asked the agent.
‘We have a suspect,’ the agent explained. ‘But I can’t divulge their identity to you.’
‘Please,’ Leroy complained. ‘I need to know.’
‘I can’t tell you,’ the agent responded. ‘I’m be back in a second, I need to hit the little agent’s room.’
‘Are you sure you want to know,’ Angee questioned once the agent was gone.
‘I need to know,’ Leroy explained.
            ‘What’s his name?’ Angee asked.
‘They have multiple suspect, they are still tracking them down to interrogate them and find the person responsible,’ Leroy lied. ‘Come on, there isn’t any point to us staying here and holding up their investigation.’
‘Okay,’ Angee agreed before taking his hand and walking out of NCIS with him.

As they exited the NCIS headquarters, the scene blurred out again as Tom thought about what he had just watched. You weren’t that gullible? Were you?
