Six Alien Ships: Newborns
Following a lengthy fight between an advanced squad
of Vinto and Angee Gibbs, Marcus was eventually able to subdue her, which
subsequently allowed him to extract a couple pints of blood from the girl
before her reinforcements arrived and forced him to retreat.
However, he had already gained everything he
required to bring the Vinto up to par with the strangely advanced Protectors.
Unfortunately, this gamble also revealed the Vinto presence on Earth much
earlier than they would have liked.
Not fully trusting many of her kind after a
previous star system was lost to Vintos who had developed emotions, Anna, the
queen of the Vintos, chose her two daughters, Lisa and Amanda, to have the
blood transfused into their veins in order to try and induce Angee’s powers
into them, much like the humans had done in what she perceived to be an
ignorant temper tantrum by both sides.
‘Are you insane Mark?’ Joshua complained as Lisa
and Amanda walked into the lab where the blood transfusion would occur. ‘They
now know we’re here and we don’t have nearly enough time to train them in the
use of their powers. We would have been better off just bidding our time and
analysing them from afar.’
‘We
can handle whatever they throw at us,’ Marcus challenged while the lab
assistants attached the blood bags of Angee’s blood to Lisa and Amanda.
‘I
would’ve preferred analysing their weaknesses first and then taking their
blood,’ Josh noted. ‘You saw what the boy and girl were like after inducing
themselves, they could barely stand, let alone fight.
‘And now we are going to have two of
them on our side that you can analyse all you want,’ Marcus snapped. ‘So find
your bloody weakness in them and then apply it to the humans.’
‘Yes,
find a weakness in newly born superpowered Vinto thing and apply it the
superpowered Human-Vinto-Zoombian hybrid thing. That is totally how science
works,’ Josh complained.
‘Better
than nothing asshole,’ Marcus retorted. ‘Look for similarities and differences between
ours and theirs and then exploit them.’
‘The
only difference is that they have nothing to lose,’ Josh mumbled as he turned
to the girls to explain the procedure one more time.
‘They’re
human, they must have something to lose,’ Marcus replied, slightly confused by
the statement.
‘They’re
from a lost world, they came back in time in the hopes of preventing said world
from existing. If they fail then they’ll just be reborn in a few hundred years
and repeat the cycle. And they actually think that that is how this will go,’
Josh sighed. ‘They’re computer systems are filled with images of a terraformed
planets where stuff that they’ve built in the past is present in ruined form in
the future. They have nothing to lose, and we by comparison, we have everything
to lose.’
‘Then
we induce them and we take these Protectors down before they can do anything to
stop us,’ Marcus replied with enthusiasm.
‘Yeah,
sure,’ Josh sighed before turning fully to the girls. ‘Okay, you sure you
understand everything? If we do this you’ll receive the ability to manipulate
time, move at super-vinto speeds and create force fields, you will –’
‘Yeah
yeah, we get it,’ Amanda snapped. ‘Just start the blood.’
‘Actually
you don’t get it,’ Josh retorted. ‘As we’re been watching the humans below we
have come to realise that their powers aren't all good. Time in particular appears
to produce nightmare scenarios of possible futures whilst you sleep and further
studies of the blood seem to suggest that people who have this ability are also
subject to immense psychological issues where some unknown force attempts to
take control. Having had their powers from birth they are able to resist said
control…but being given them fresh in the middle of your lives may cause you to
become overwhelmed.’
‘We
can handle it,’ Lisa promised.
‘Yeah, we’re stronger
than them,’ Amanda exclaimed. ‘If anyone is going to break it will be one of
them.’
‘As long as you both
understand the consequences,’ Josh nodded. ‘Strap them down.’
The girls were quickly strapped down, much to
their surprise before the blood in the bags were released by the nurses. ‘Why
the straps Josh?’ Lisa snapped.
‘Because
suddenly getting superspeed may end up being like have pure adrenaline pumped
into your body,’ Josh explained to two confused face. ‘In other words we don’t
know if you’ll run head first into a wall after being given this.’
‘And
what’s to stop us from doing so when you take the straps off?’ Amanda asked.
‘Absolutely
nothing,’ Josh laughed. ‘They are there purely to ensure you get the full lot.’
