Time Trap: Unlikely Allies
Ever since he was 8, he and his father were at odds. Even now, as their entire timelines unravelled around them. Tom knew that it he wad going to save his friends, he was gonna have to put up with the person he hated most in the world.
"How could this have happened!?" Emma yelled. "What has the power to change an entire timeline."
"Nothing should, nothing should be able to affect the timeline to this extent," Tom answered as he sped around the room checking everything that had a dial or a reading or just random pictures that flashed up.
"Slow down," his dad instructed.
"Slow down? Slow down! I have 28 hours to figure out what is destroying my timeline. My history."
"And what good are these machines going to do?" Geoff asked as his son rushed from one end of the room to the other.
"I hate to admit it, but he's right," Emma agreed. "Computers only know fact. We only know truth. Neither of us can know both. Two timelines, the same until one very specific event where there are only two possible outcomes, one that leads to us, the other which the world is now following."
"So what? Two splits: One is a mystery that either makes or breaks us; and the other one is where we win or loses in the final battle."
"Exactly, we have one event that can destroy everything we know...has destroyed everything we know," Emma nodded.
"If we fix everything —" Tom started.
"Everyone will come back," Geoff answered.
"But the damage will have been done, Coombeshead will remain a smoldering pile of ash, that Vinto ship will remain and all of those kids who died will remain dead," Emma finished.
"If we can't save them then we will avenge them. If we can't do that...then what is the point of carring on?" Tom asked.
"Was that your long winded way to say we're blowing up that ship?" Geoff asked for clarification.
"Oh yes," Tom smirked evilly as the ship's semantics appeared on screen. "Yes indeed."
"How could this have happened!?" Emma yelled. "What has the power to change an entire timeline."
