Power Core Series 2: Locate

Following the abduction of the President Ray, Naomi and her team had been on the run from the US government who believed them to have orchestrated the entire thing. Now they were holed up in one of Tom's old bases in the middle of nowhere, Iowa. Desperately searching for any hint as to the location of the Cydonian command ship.

But they were finding nothing.
"What if we're looking in the wrong place?" Emma proposed.
           "What?" Naomi questioned.
"We're looking in the sky; perhaps we should be looking in the ground; look for their old bases from their first invasion," Emma explained.
"Look where they don't expect us to look..." Darren summarised. "It's too risky: They are smart enough to block any passage into their system."
"If they remember them," Jack noted. "They may of blocked them, but at the same time it's been twelve years since the first invasion. They may well think that humanity has pulled those bases to pieces."
"So we find an old base, one that was not touched following the repulsion of the aliens?"
"Exactly," Darren nodded. "The only problem...I don't know how quickly they will find us after we access their system."
"Then lets give them something else to worry about," Naomi smirked. "Bobby. Get Maddi, Connie and the others to begin activating the Vinto tech. That should be a good enough distraction."

The alien base was at least two hundred metres underneath Davenport, hidden deep but shallow. Sinkholes had begun appearing a few years before as small sections of the base caved in beneath the city.

The news? They reported the sinkholes. The police? They only mentioned the sinkholes. And the Military? They ignored anyone who mentioned the alien base hidden deep below the city. That gave the team a unnerving sense of security as they planted a destabilizer designed to cause the base to cave-in in a small area.

"You sure this will work?" Naomi asked Darren as the hid behind a car.
"We're about to find out," Darren smirked while pressing the button that activated the device.

Suddenly the car they were hidden behind disappeared down a hole that appeared in the ground and Naomi had hold of Darren's wrist as the kid tried to regain his balance.

"Well it worked!" Darren exclaimed after he was pulled back from the edge.
"A little too well," Emma noted, pointing at how far the hole had actually spread.
"Yeah...too well," Naomi noted as she grabbed one of the abseiling ropes that they had set up ready. "Lets find out where these things are hiding."

The base was designed to be as simple as possible: Plain blueish walls and floor; basic room layouts; and easily pinpointable areas of interest for potential attackers.

The control console was easily found, as were the computer systems that linked the base to the Cydonian database. "Yes!" Darren exclaimed as he inserted Bobby into the system who quickly began to process any and all information on the network. "They haven't blocked this one. They've only blocked some bases."
"No reason to celebrate," Jack warned. "Be ready, the bases that aren't blocked may be the ones already reactivated or are planned for reactivation."
"Found it," Bobby notified. "The command ship is above; really!"
           "What?" Emma pushed.
"The ship is over Newton Abbot," Bobby sighed. "Why does everything always fall back to us? Back to where we lay."
"Because they want to catch us as we sleep," Naomi shrugged.
"Let sleeping dogs sleep. Permanently," Jack agreed as explosions rang out from the engineering section of the base.
"They're onto us," Darren smiled as he readied a couple of fireballs in his hands.
"Let them come," Naomi smiled back. "Show them what they so clearly want!"
