Power Core Series 3: Lost

The Vinto ship was currently floating far above Coombeshead Academy by the time that Tom and his team had readied themselves to infiltrate it and rescue their friends before they were executed. But that first involved locating the prison inside the biggest Vinto ship ever witness.

And to make matters worse, Tom realised that every alien race that came to Earth, always centred their attention upon the under-achieving secondary school; and in his head he began to realise why the Protectors had been based there. And he believed the Vintos wanted it out…

While having Jack provide visual interference and Naomi and Emma providing aerial interference, Tom slowly brought his ship towards the alien vessel in an attempt to board it. This worked to an extent as the team managed to find themselves within the hangar bay of the ship. The problem? They had been allowed to land by the Vinto security.
“Oh…” Tom stated as he cautiously walked out the door to the ship. “That could be a problem…”
“You don’t say,” Naomi sighed before concentrating on a stack of crates and willing them to fly across the room and into the guards that lay waiting.

Once the team were certain that it was safe, they left the large, white room and headed left based solely on the logic that the prison would be down, and the stairs downwards were on the left. As the moved slowly they dispatched any wondering aliens and left most of them with snapped necks. A couple were turned to dust.
“This is stupid!” Connie yelled as she burnt a hole though another guard. “We are just walking through this ship endlessly with no idea where they might be.”
“Normally we would take time to learn the layout…but they are being executed in seven hours,” Tom moaned. “We didn’t have time to even scan this ship as that would take too long. Can you – no. I can’t ask you to do that.”
“Give me a Vinto and I’ll take their memories and find them,” Connie promised. “But you owe me.”
“Fine,” Tom nodded in agreement before the team moved slowly on, wishing for their luck to begin again. It did, but only because Jack was jumped and not any of the others who would have killed the Vinto onsight.

“Connie?” Tom asked as the girl pulled off her gloves that prevented her from touching anyone.
“I know,” she sighed before placing her hand upon the creatures face, after which, her entire head began to explode as it was flooded by the alien’s memories, feelings and knowledge.

Suddenly, two minutes later, she broke away and tried to force the newly gained information into her mental safe where it could not hurt her. “They’ve trained them,” Connie panted as her head began to ache with pulses of dizziness. “They’ve trained them to avoid my mind swimming attacks. They literally through everything else at me in order to protect the information we want?”
“Did they?” Naomi questioned while Emma and Maddi slaughtered a group of attacking guards.
“Almost,” the girl smiled with a clear indication of pain. “Two floors down, cells five and six.”
            “Nice work,” Tom smirked.
“There are no stairs in the section of the ship though. They are on the other side, and he didn’t know the layout of the floor below…” Connie added quickly before locking the information gained inside its own little mental cage.

“Great,” Tom moaned as the team started walking back to the stairs that led up to the hanger to instead walk around them and continue onwards in the opposite direction.
