Covenant Invasion of Earth Series 2: Shatter

One Covenant Ship hovering high above Coombeshead Academy, three teams ready to demolish the enemy resistance and rescue their friends, if they were even still alive. And now they had their powers, and with them they had the power to eradicate the alien infestation from the Earth and prevent Humanity’s extinction.

The only problem was that Cameron was still hallucinating of his dead friends, and Tom was slowly sinking into insanity…

Tom and Cameron, the two most dysfunctional of the team had tasked themselves with the simple job of attacking the ship’s bridge in order to take out the leadership and hopefully through the ship into complete and utter unorganised disarray. But neither of them truly wanted to be fighting for their lives when they both wanted to be dead.

But neither of them wanted the other to die so they fought on by protecting each other.

They had managed to infiltrate the ship with the smallest amount of résistance which had allowed them to make it through the winding, purple corridors to the outer edges of the bridge without much trouble. But then they hit the mountain load.
“Okay…” Tom moaned. “Why wasn’t any of this in the rest of the ship?”
“Because we would be unlikely to hit it?” Cameron shrugged while launching a beam of black energy the pierced three grunts in a row, causing them to fall to the ground. Dead, with their heads shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces.

Tom stood and sped up the hallway and inserted his sword into one of the bigger alien’s chest before zooming back to his hiding spot before any of the aliens even realised that he was stood. As he knelt back down the reptile with a sword in his chest suddenly exploded into dust, startling many of the aliens around him.

Cameron looked over the barricade briefly to perform a quick head count of the remaining aliens, instead he saw Flavio running down the corridor towards them. He looked at Tom and mouthed: Flavio, and pointed up the hallway. Tom looked over his cover before moving back down and looking at Cameron like he was crazy. Meanwhile, the Covenant at the end of the hall finally regained their bearings and began shooting down the corridor, most of the plasma rounds flew harmlessly pass, some hit their cover; but Cameron watched as the plasma tore through Flavio’s body causing it to shatter into a million pieces.

The hallucinating boy looked on in horror as Tom stood and launched a ball of temporal energy up the hallway and into the group of enemies, butchering some of them, while the ones with shields shrugged it off like it was nothing, however they were dazed long enough for Tom to rush across to Cameron. “God Dammit,” he yelled. “Snap out of it Cameron.”

Elsewhere in the ship, Emma, Naomi and Darren had managed to fight their way into the engine room where they were franticly looking for a way to force the ship’s engines to go critical, thus destroying the ship.

Naomi was a white haired girl who had gone into her own self-proclaimed retirement following the Zoombians’ destruction of the house, feeling that it was better for her to distance herself from those she loved following the tragic death of her other daughter, Maddi during the explosion.

But since Tom rebuilt the Power Core, it now meant that she had the ability to manipulate the airways again, allowing her to suffocate or vacumninate anything she desired. This also meant that a great deal of self-control must be maintained at all times as these powers have sub-routines that allowed them to strike anyway in the world based off of one ill thought that one time three years ago. The police were still looking for the killer of that particular banker.

However, in the heart of the Covenant ship she didn’t have to worry about things like a stupid police investigation that won’t go anywhere, deep in the centre of the ship, all she had to worry about was exterminating the alien freaks that threatened the Earth.
“Got it!” Darren exclaimed as he began to press buttons on the console, causing two engines to suddenly open up, allowing for any number of things to be inserted into it. “Now all we need is a catalyst to initiate this thing…”
“What type of catalyst?” Emma asked.
“Anything that can accelerate the rate at which the engines are combusting their fuel,” Darren replied quickly before rushing the deceased carcases of the aliens that they had killed to get into the room.

Wondering why Tom and Cameron made it so far to the bridge without opposition? Probably because most of the forces that the ship normally held were busy fighting on the ground against Emily, Erin and Sam in the middle of Coombeshead Academy.

Most of the students had been picnic area when the phantoms were launched, and Sam, Erin and Emily were very quickly out of their own and onto the ground while theirs was blown out of the sky in rather spectacular fashion. The three team members who weren’t currently fighting in the ship landed on the fabric roof of the picnic area and broke right through, crashing to the rotting, wooden tables below, much to the dismay of the people sat at said tables.

Why were the students at school? The Covenant had cloaked themselves from much of the Earth to the point that only some high-level officials knew of their invasion, and only the Protectors knew the location of any alien ships that were within the atmosphere.

However the sudden decent of the purple alien ships turned the kids attitudes from anger at their now trampled food to fear of the alien monkeys that were dropping out of two of the ships. The remaining ship flew in closer to the ground and deposited a bunch of shield-carrying reptiles and small methane breathing cowards.

Sam looked at Emily and pointed upwards to the fast approaching reinforcements that apparently consisted of at least a hundred alien space craft.
“We’ve got down here,” Erin promised. “Go supernova on their arses for me.”
“Certainly,” Emily responded before pointing her hands at the floor and propelling herself upwards on columns of fire, a rather crude method that worked only when she need to rise in one spot only and not move in any other direction. Sam and Erin turned to their oppoents and began to fight and win against them.

A minute later and Emily reached the centre of the alien reinforcements before spinning at sonic speeds, bringing her fire into a cylinder around her before heating it up to the temperature of the sun as quickly as possible before suddenly releasing much of the energy outwards as her nose and ears began to bleed.

Suddenly she began to fall as the fire subsided, revealing that one phantom had survived the inferno; without thinking about the consequences to her own health, she launched a series of magma balls at the craft causing the engine to overheat greatly before detonating midair. And then she fell, her eyes and ears bleeding immensely.
