Covenant Invasion of Earth Series 2: Ignite

Emma woke slowly and groggy, upside and with her feet in her face. As she climbed up to her feet she looked into the engine room to see Sam’s mangled and distorted body lying in a pile next to her bomb. Suddenly, she remembered the timer that had been set and started off through the ship trying to find the easiest way of the ship. While stumbling forwards she found a small metal pipe tucked inside the wall and ripped it off so that she could use it as a weapon if needed.

The aliens that had killed Sam hadn’t even been registered by her brain at this point, her full attention  was focused on finding a way off of the floating alien fortress.

Elsewhere on the ship, Tom had become separated from Naomi and Cameron who were now making their way to the prison having dispatched the assassins that had arrived to kill them. Tom followed the winding corridors, trying to find his way to the engine room to uncover the reason why Emma and Sam weren’t responding.

He had managed to acquire a sword of energy from the aliens that attempted to kill him and his team and now stalked the hallways of the carrier as he made his way towards the engine room. Strangely he found that there were surprisingly few armed personal on the route he had taken; and those that there were, were lightly armed and likely were just carrying weapons as a method of self-defence.

He snuck past most of them and eventually made it to the engine room, having killed only one group of five aliens on his long journey down, and discovered that Sam had been killed and that Emma was absent, much to his horror.

Bending down and looking analysing the bomb, he realised that the timer had been fried and that he had to detonate the bomb manually, giving him only a small window to escape. “Naomi? Is everyone out?” he asked, placing his finger to his ear to activate the device.

Naomi and Cameron had had a much more difficult escape from the bridge than Tom; luckily they had a much smaller distance to transverse before they reached their objective: The Prison.

They fought their way through the oncoming swarms of enemies using weapons stolen from various aliens, and eventually they made it to the brig with reptilian snipers not to far behind them.
            “Naomi!” Emily called.
“The Portal is open, but it is growing unstable,” Connor commented. “Losing our powers…whatever made us lose our powers effected the Portal.”
“Where’s Tom, Sam and Emma?” Flavio asked.
“They’ve not here?” Cameron asked. “They were supposed to plant the bomb and come straight here. I assumed them not answering through the comms was because they had already left the ship.”
“Tom’s gone to look for them,” Naomi guessed.

BOOM!

Suddenly an explosion rocked the entire carrier to the core causing Darren and Connor to temporarily lose their balance. Darren stood quickly and stated: “Someone detonated our bomb. We don’t have long before the engine explodes in its full plasmary glory. It’ll destroy the ship completely, only extremely small pieces of shrapnel will make it down if any does at all.”
“We’re not getting out of this room,” Naomi warned. “There are snipers everywhere…we’re just going to have to go through the Portal and hope the others find their way.”
“Naomi? Is everyone out?” Tom asked through the comms suddenly.
“Where are you?” Naomi blurted out.
“Not important,” Tom snapped. “Is everyone out? I need to detonate the bomb manually.”
“Everyone but you, Emma and Sam,” Naomi revealed. “What was that explosion?”
“A plasma round hit one of the engines,” Tom announced. “But it isn’t enough to destroy the ship. Sam’s dead…”
“How?” Flavio questioned, the shock of his friend’s death causing him to collapse to the floor.
“Lots of fuel rod,” Tom described. “I guess he realised too late that our powers were missing.”
“What are we going to do about Emma?” Naomi questioned as she gestured for the others to rush through the Portal after her.”
“I can’t take another attack,” Tom sighed. “I’m going to have to detonate the bomb now and hope that she is off the ship. We’ll never get another shot like this…not without our powers.”
“Detonate it,” Naomi resigned as she stepped through the Portal, once through she realised that communication with the inside was no longer possible.

She performed a quick head count and noticed that Flavio was missing. Suddenly the blonde haired boy flopped through the portal, a small pink crystal sticking out of the back of his head. “Snipers!” she screamed and pulled his body the rest of the way through the Portal. “Shut it down!”

Emma was limping through the corridors when the alarm sounded and witnessed hundreds of small methane breathing cowards running in the same direction, as such she decided to follow them in the hopes of escape.

Naomi watched from the Earth far below as the Covenant Super-Carrier suddenly erupted into a ball of blue and red as the plasma mixed with the fire. Her legs gave under her weight as an entire tidal wave of emotion swept across her.

“Were it so easy,” Emily made a pathetic attempt to comfort her sister. “Were it so easy to kill them…”
