Camp Terror: Mistake

One year prior to the terrorist attack, during an argument between Tom and Maddi about the best way to deal with their alien enemies, an accident occurred that would eventually shape the way in which the world worked.

As the tension sizzled between the two sides, one of whom wanted to exterminate all of the aliens while the other just simply wanted to chase them away, Ed stepped in, attempting to rationalise Maddi’s ideals further adding to the bubbling cauldron of energy. Connor’s ability to absorb the properties of what he touches eventually joined into the mix when he joined onto Tom’s side.

And then there was poor Sam, poor, poor Sam. Sam’s ability to regenerate would ultimately be the final ingredient in the deadly mixture…and when that happened the entire world was changed.

Fuelled by her hatred for the Zoombians after they killed her mother, Maddi wished to exterminate every alien race in the galaxy while Tom attempted to convince her that it would not fill the hole left by her mother’s death.
“She controls death and life Tom,” Ed had explained. “That is why she wants to do it. But just to add another reason than revenge: They will always come back. Always.”
“The Zoombians just want to lock down the device in Newton Abbot, which we have discussed. The Vintos just need a change in leadership and the Cydonians are dead,” Tom explained. “Why destroy everyone’s innocence when we can simply just give them what they need.”
“Because…what is to stop some twisted individual like Anna or Amanda from taking charge and attacking again!” Maddi screamed as blonde streaks of hair began to spread into place upon her head.

Connor was walking past and heard Tom’s and Maddi’s arguments and chose to intervene before Maddi managed to guilt trip Tom into going along with her insane plan.
“We exterminate the Vintos then the Zoombians come after us,” Connor explained calmly as an invisible ball of energy began to materialise at the top of the room. “They have their rules about this type of thing.”
“We can’t afford to fight the Zoombians,” Tom explained. “Not again. Not after last time.”
“That’s just another reason to fight!” Maddi yelled. “They killed mum and they need to pay for that.”
“At what cost!” Tom screamed. “They killed Naomi yes. But in that quest for revenge, how many people will have to die? We’ll just end up in the same timeline as last time.” His hair was gradually turning red as his energy began seeping from him. Ed’s eyes began to glow an unearthly yellow while Connor’s hair and eyes took on the same metallic colouring of the floor.
“There is a limit to how much we can do,” Connor stated calmly, feeling the point at which he will lose control rushing ever closer. “Matt made sure of that.”
“You want us to just let them get away with what they did?” Maddi questioned.
“No. I don’t want them to get away with it. But committing genocide is defiantly not the answer,” Tom explained.
“This is getting stupid,” Sam complained as he walked in from a nearby room. “All I want is a nap and all I can hear is you four yelling.”
“Shut up Sam,” Tom complained, this is not your concern.
“Isn’t it?” Sam questioned. “Aren’t we discussing whether or not to initiate humanity’s extinction? Or our own downfall?”
“And who do you think it right?” Tom questioned.
“Neither of you!” Sam yelled. “You don’t want to fight but you also aren’t preparing the Earth for a potential invasion. You want to fight but at the cost of the Earth. If we go to their territory and attack unprovoked then they will come down upon the Earth and squish us like bugs.”

Both sides of the argument were now stumped for an answer until Maddi decided that her best course of action was to simply ignore what Sam had said and instead turned back to her dad and continued to try and argue her point. The invisible blob of energy hovering overhead began moving towards the only member of the group who was not currently radiating an immense amount of energy.

Suddenly the blob flew downwards and struck Sam on the head, engulfing him in energy before each piece of energy reacted with each other and Sam’s ability to regenerate to damage something that should never be damaged. The resultant shockwave sent Tom and Connor flying backwards and into the wall while it simply caused Maddi’s and Ed’s bodies to go into overdrive before they just dropped dead as their entire being worked itself into oblivion.
