Camp Terror: Contact
Getting control of Bobby allowed Tom to finally
access the frequencies that he couldn’t remember, and Emma escaping made it
possible for the other side to communicate with the people within the black
zone – well Tom and Jack anyway.
Gibbs had managed to use the frequency that Emma
had provided to break through the black zone, but not before a few accidental
communications with submarines around the world. “Where is she?” Tom asked
after Gibbs explained the situation to him.
“She
ran off saying that she had something to do,” Gibbs explained.
“She’s
in here then,” Tom commented.
“Always
having to be the saviour, just like her dad,” Jack sighed.
“Well,
she’ll reappear at some point,” Tom said, not really caring for the fact that
his daughter had just run back into a terrorist controlled campsite. “What do
we have?”
“Well
the entire river, including the town Dartmouth, have been taken. And they have
somehow smuggled a couple of tanks in which are now stationed in side lanes,
and they reportedly have hundreds of hostages in the houses surrounding each
one,” McGee explained, now stood next to Gibbs.
“And
basically, we can’t retaliate against them because of the potential risk to the
hostages but the tanks can fire at anything that attempts to enter the mouth of
the river,” Bishop added.
“The
entire river has been fenced off. Any point of access has at least ten armed
guards on them,” McGee added.
“These
people have numbers on their side Tom. Be careful,” Gibbs warned. “And they
won’t take too kindly to you attacking them.”
“I
know,” Tom sighed, his mind racing back to Connor and the gunshot.
“Before
you go,” came the director’s voice. “I’ve been in talks with the UN and your
Prime Minster, because of the extent of their operation and the fact that a
number of your team members have been kidnapped…”
“What?”
Tom pushed.
“They’ve
given you permission to use your powers without risk of legal action or arrest,”
Vance explained. “Just be careful. We’re still gathering Intel on this group.”
“You
know that they aren’t from any specific ethnic group,” Jack informed. “They
appear to be from a number of different countries. I’ve seen two British, one
Syrian and I think someone from South Korea. Matey-boy down their couldn’t
remember which but he thinks it was South.”
“Loads
of the terrorists in Dartmouth appear to be of European decent,” McGee agreed.
“There
must be a pattern in their beliefs then,” Bishop stated before running off to
her spot on the floor to look into the various backgrounds of known members of the
cell.
“Be
careful, we need more Intel but you need to stay alive,” McGee stated kindly.
“And
be wary of the Reception building,” Gibbs warned. “We believe that is the
centre of the operation, as such…taking it out may send alarm bells ringing all
along the river. And for heaven sake, be careful, these aren’t some random thug
who murdered someone after a bar fight. These are highly trained terrorists who
shoot on sight with no questions asked.”
“Will
do, Boss,” Tom agreed. “But my team come first. Because of that there is no
limit to what I’ll do to them to protect them. Find a way of getting us
something more powerful in here. Please?”
“We’ll
see,” Gibbs shrugged. “We can’t offer much though.”
“Try,”
Tom begged before ending the conversation.
Tom and Jack continued to interrogate William and
discovered that many of the British members of the team were ex-military or
ex-public services. The sound of a fourth voice however jolted Tom and Jack to
attention.
Looking around quickly, Tom panicked and readied
his sword in his hand. He slowly began to calm down focus upon what he could
see. Meanwhile Jack had already put down his weapons having seen the difference
in light surrounding a humanoid shape.
“Who’s
there!” Tom yelled, beginning to panic by fact that he could not see anyone.
“Just
a friend in the shadows,” Jack announced cryptically.
“Cameron?”
Tom asked. “How the hell did you get out?”
“There
may or may not be two dead terrorists in the kids play park,” Cameron shrugged
as he materialised. “Speaking of which, before we let this place reopen, we
should probably go around checking everywhere to ensure there are no
decomposing corpse for little kids to find.”
“Yes,
Captain Obvious. Of course we will scour the area to ensure there are no dead
bodies,” Tom sneered. “By the way, we can use our powers now. Orders of the
UN.”
“Good.
I couldn’t imagine trying to fight without my powers of darkness,” Cameron
jeered.
“Not
all of us have passive or defensive powers Cameron. Some of us have offensive
powers,” Tom countered. “I’m guessing that means you used your powers to get
away and take the two terrorists with you.”
“Pretty
much,” Cameron laughed as William began groan behind them.
