NCIS: Shocking Recruit

Doctor Donald Mallard was loyal to a fault, and this led him to putting off Leanne’s autopsy four months using Tom’s stasis technology; why he was doing that? Because Tom believed she needed time for a spark to wake her up from her death slumber.

But now, after eight months of nagging from the director, he had decided to perform the autopsy, believing that if anything was going to happen, it would have already. He hated the idea of betraying his friend’s trust, but he had a job to do. And that job he was going to do.

He had his assistant remove Leanne’s body from stasis and prep it for the procedure.

Once all was ready they stood on either side of the table ready to begin.
“You sure you want to do this, Doctor?” Palmer asked. “You promised Tom you wouldn’t.”
“Tom said he wanted me to wait to see if anything happens,” Ducky explained. “I’ve got the director constantly ordering me to perform it and I believe that if anything was going to happen, then it would have already.”
“Okay then, if you are certain…” Palmer agreed before allowing the doctor the space to begin the autopsy.

Suddenly the most unexpected development occurred. The naked blonde girl sat bolt up right with a small incision in her chest. Both Ducky and Palmer took a few startled steps backwards. “How?” Palmer asked shocked.
“Tom said give her time but I don’t think she would have done that any other way,” Ducky guessed.
“Okay…the last thing I remember was that stupid mind control thing using my body to almost kill Tom…then he killed me?” Leanne asked, looking to Ducky for reassurance.
“How are you alive?” Ducky asked ignoring her question.
“Tom knew you would eventually agree the right amount of time had passed, he just wanted you to be comfortable with it,” she explained. “My body controls electricity, it is permanently coursing through my veins; he knew my body needed time to repair itself, so he made you promise not to perform the autopsy and to keep me on stasis. What he didn’t tell you was that he knew that you would eventually believe that too much time had passed, at which point you would begin the autopsy with something metal: a conductor of sorts.”
“What did that have to do with anything?” Palmer asked.
“It aloud me to relinquish any excess electricity into the ground without causing a world wide blackout,” Leanne expanded. “The majority of the Protectors have safety switches in their powers designed to keep them alive if the conditions were right. Mine were.”
“Why wouldn’t Tom just tell us that?” Palmer questioned.
“Because Penny and Felix watch him. If they knew I was still alive but in stasis, imagine how easy it would be for them to sneak in, kill me and then hide the fact they killed me by making it look as if nothing was any different,” Leanne informed. “Everyone had to believe I was dead in order for my body to repair itself.”

“So, what’s going on in Newton Abbot,” she asked as she got dressed.
“Don’t know, Tom destroyed the tech block, and Emma and Maddi were murdered,” Ducky informed.
“Great,” Leanne moaned. “Tom will be in a bad mood then.”
“Pretty sure he destroyed the tech block because he was in a bad mood,” Palmer noted. “Either way he destroyed the building but Felix still got away…”
“Guess I’ll have to clear up his mess, again…”
“Good luck with that. His mess is ever increasing,” Ducky explained. “He is constantly destroying parts of buildings and such.”

“Thank you,” she nodded. “For the information and letting the autopsy go without being done for long enough.”
