Power Core Series 2: Taken

Following the explosion that claimed the life of Lyle Hunt, millions of other Cydonian ships of various shapes and sizes were destroyed, leaving only around three hundred ships left, although most of the ships were one class below being the Command Ship; which is likely why the UN joint military operation left them be.

Naomi, meanwhile, had tried to get a good night sleep but was plagued by either nightmares of Tom and Emily being shredded into a thousand pieces by the explosion of the first Cydonian ship or of the Ethereal who had kidnapped her and blackmailed her; due to these dreams, she knew, deep in her heart, that the leader of the alien forces had made it off the Command Ship before Hunt had destroyed it.

Suddenly, a large clump of air was displaced in the sky above the town causing both Emma and Naomi to wince as their brain registered the abnormal displacement.

White. That was all can be used to describe the light given off by the teleporting aliens. The bright light blinded the three of them leaving no chance for a possible counterattack…and leaving them open to an attack.

As the light began to slow subdue, Naomi felt a sudden jolt of pain in her stomach as the hostiles let off a parade of punches that struck all three members of the group everywhere. Emma’s eyes began to slowly take on a red-ish tint while time began to slow down around her.

And then it was gone, the light vanished faster than anyone could see. “Um…” Naomi started as the aliens came into view for the first time. “You are defiantly not Cydonians…”

Without really thinking about it, Emma sent a ball of temporal energy at one of the aliens and sent him flying backwards, a pile of dust before he could strike the tree. Without any real indication of an attack, one of the aliens attempted to stab Naomi through her ear, only to have his wrist grabbed, turned and then thrust back into his chest.

Wrapping her fingers around the knife, Naomi yanked it free of the alien’s ribs and threw it at an alien that was trying to sneak up on Darren. The knife pieced the alien’s skull in the centre of his eyes.

As her daughter and brother-in-law fought their enemies, Naomi turned back to hers to find that they were all now wielding stun guns. At risk of great headaches, she put her hand out in front of her and willed the stun guns to raise into the air, spin one hundred and eighty degrees and then finally, stun their owners.

The aliens and Naomi fell to the floor simultaneously, but for extremely different reasons: the aliens fell because they were stunned; Naomi fell because the telekinesis had worn her down immensely. Slowly she turned. Slowly she saw Emma being beaten. Slowly she came to realise that Darren was unconscious in the arms of the aliens.

A painfully loud, high pitch sound let loose before the blinding white light returned. Naomi was too tired to react, but Emma took her chance and managed to dustify the five aliens that had been beating her before she too fell to the ground.

“First the Cydonians favoured Newton…now the Vintos land here…What is so special about some stupid, small cattle town!” Naomi complained as Emma lost consciousness. “Why here?”
